The production method of single crystal germanium is as follows

At present, the growth methods of ge single crystal mainly include single crystal Czochralski method, horizontal Bridgman method and VGF method. Among them, Czochralski method is the most commonly used growth method of germanium single crystal, which has the advantages of visualization of growth process, high yield, high degree of automation of crystal growth, no contact between crystal and crucible, avoiding parasitic nucleation of crucible and other defects.

Infrared optical properties of germanium

With the rapid development of laser and infrared technology, more and more attention has been paid to the excellent infrared optical properties of germanium semiconductor materials.

Infrared optical materials should have the following characteristics:

(1) Wide infrared transmission band;

(2) It has high transmittance for different wavelengths of infrared;

(3) It has ideal refractive index for different wavelengths of infrared

Low emissivity and dispersion;

(4) The material has good mechanical and thermal properties

And the adaptability to the environment;

(5) Easy to process into various shapes and large sizes;

(6) The manufacturing cost is low.

At present, the main infrared optical materials are germanium and silicon, as well as III-IV compound semiconductor GaAs (gallium arsenide), gap (gallium phosphide), II Κ III compound semiconductor ZnS (zinc sulfide), ZnSe (zinc selenide), etc.

As windows, lenses, prisms and filters, germanium is widely used in infrared detection systems such as infrared thermal imagers. Germanium has the highest refractive index and is easy to be made into lens. It has good transmittance in 8-14 μ M band

Germanium is resistant to corrosion, not easy to deliquescence and has good mechanical properties. Germanium is an irreplaceable material in infrared detection system.

Application of germanium in infrared optics

In infrared optics, germanium is mainly used for making infrared optical lens in infrared detection system and protecting infrared optical window of infrared optical lens. More than 60% of the middle and low-end infrared optical lenses are made of infrared germanium single crystal material. In the high-end infrared optical system, half of the optical lenses are single crystal germanium.

Infrared lens is mainly used in military and civil. The main application fields of military infrared lens include airborne infrared lens, shipborne infrared lens, land-based infrared lens, vehicle mounted infrared lens, infrared gun aiming lens, helmet mounted infrared lens, handheld infrared lens, etc. The main application fields of civil infrared lens include
