An image intensifier tube (IIT) is a vacuum tube device for increasing the intensity of available light in an optical system to allow use under low-light conditions. For night vision enthusiasts, professional operators, and equipment distributors seeking reliable, high-performance image intensifier tubes without the wait—MHNV has you covered. To meet diverse budget and application demand, we are thrilled to announce our in-stock inventory of the IIT of figure of merit(FOM = Resolution x SNR) .

To choose an IIT, use the FOM for a quick quality check, but also consider your specific needs: higher FOM for better clarity (e.g., 2000+ for elite use), white phosphor for natural color and contrast in varied environments (urban/forest), green phosphor for budget/general use, and features like autogating for sudden light changes, performance, and application.

While choosing IITs, a few important performance parameters that need to be considered are:
1. Figure of Merit (FOM)
2. Signal-to-Noise ratio(SNR)
3. Resolution
Figure of Merit (FOM): FOM is used to determine the overall performance of the IIT and is calculated as a product of the image intensifier’s resolution and SNR. The value of FOM is easily calculated for all types of tubes from known measured values, it is a quantity that is used for measuring the effectiveness of a device, and for characterizing the output reliability of empirical models, and for determining the functioning of the IIT.
Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR): The SNR determines the capability of IITduring the low light condition as it defines the Image Intensifier output brightness divided by the root mean square of the variations in output brightness and is usually measured at a light level of 108 μlx. The SNR is the key parameter to predict the performance of an IIT. Hence higher SNR means objects can be seen with better contrast and enhances the ability of the tube, under low illumination conditions. The systematic arrangement of SNR is shown below.

Resolution:Resolution of IIT signifies details the human eye is able to pick in the image when seen through the device. It is more accurately known as limiting resolution, tube resolution is measured in line pairs per millimeter or lp/mm. The higher value of resolution means that the device can generate recognizable images of smaller targets separated by smaller distances Thus, resulting in better quality images.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to secure high-performance Gen3 Autogated IIT with immediate shipping, or take advantage of our promotional Grade B tubes (Gen2+/Gen3, green/white phosphor) at unbeatable prices.Contact MHNV today to inquire about pricing, place your order, or learn more about how our image intensifier tubes can elevate your night vision capabilities.
